Summary

Video messaging is quickly becoming the next recruitment marketing trend but it can also be used for team communication. This is the balance that Kommute focuses on providing, bringing video as smoothly into the Candidate Outreach and Engagement process as it does into the internal space for meeting pre/debriefs, team updates, trainings, and more.

Content and features

  • Video/audio messages created in-app and shared via URL, SM, or email

  • Recipients can record their own video and send it back in response (without needing an app or login credentials)

  • Messages can also include written content, hyperlinks, and embedded tools like scheduling apps (Calendly), Forms, or offer letters (DocuSign)

Recruitment marketing

  • Post videos created by RCs/HMs to social platforms

  • Employee testimonials or realistic job previews

  • Videos for CN outreach with screening questions

  • Brandable client instances allow recipients to see videos alongside company logos and color schemes

  • Add video into mass-outreach campaigns from a CRM (use tracking links to monitor and compare view-to-reply rates)

Team communication

  • Share CN audio/video messages with HMs

  • Record screen share videos for training or sharing tips

Analysis

Kommute benefits from being a well-designed platform with plenty of room to grow and backed by a team that’s open and collaborative about developing and innovating its capabilities. Feedback that we’ve provided to the development team has been actively used to improve the platform, so there’s partnership potential here.

The staple features of the platform allow videos to be created quickly (supporting spontaneity) and be sent in message formats that can pair those videos with scheduling apps, hyperlinks to job postings, or a variety of other options from a growing list of tool integrations.

One area where Kommute falls a bit short (for now) is the lack of integrations available that would bring Kommute’s capabilities into the platforms where recruiters are already working. While you can send videos via email directly from the platform, it's not developed enough to leverage as a primary outreach channel and integrations aren’t available for many other platforms, either (like MS Teams or most CRMs). For now, this adds yet another platform for recruiters to remember and it’s easy to forget to use Kommute for a myriad of things that it would be perfect for.

Strengths

Gaps

Opportunities

Exceptional UX and intuitive features

Few integrations currently offered

Leveraging Kommute within mass-message and drip campaigns (in platforms that can capture Open/Reply rates) would provide data-based insights for how video impacts on CN engagement

Light implementation and countless potential use cases

  • CN outreach and engagement

  • Internal comms/training

Audio transcription not supported (making candidate response/prescreen records more time-consuming to put into text formats more aligned with current practices)

Cost-effective tool to put in the hands of Recruiters who can bring their personalities to the forefront of CN engagement strategies

** not for everyone and shouldn’t be deployed as a general tool (video isn’t for everyone’s personality)

Versatility for how and where videos can be used

  • SM channel job promotion

  • Mass-Email/SMS campaigns

  • Hiring manager/coworker videos

  • CN pre-screening and asynchronous interviews

Strong potential for livening up the CN review process with Hiring Managers

Connects outreach to realistic and convenient Calls to Action

  • Book a Recruiter screen (Calendly)

  • Review the job posting and apply
