Nelly Elephants Don’t Forget

This tool has solely been researched by the WilsonHCG Innovation team.

Summary

Nelly is Head of Knowledge Retention at Elephants Don’t Forget. She is committed to boosting
knowledge retention of every employee in business today. She loves to send out questions on key
subjects, where she can see there has been knowledge fade, to remind employees of their training
and to meet the ever increasing compliance regulations. She even analyses the results so she can
refine the questions to make them more relevant and give an even better return on investment. She
really is a Clever Nelly!

When she is not boosting knowledge in the workplace, Nelly is researching ways to make knowledge retention even better, working with specialist training companies and partners to help find those gaps that we can fill. To relax, she likes to go shopping, socialise with friends, eat out or sometimes just stay in and watch a good film in front of the television with a bag of monkey nuts (her favourite film is “Out of Africa”)

She has now really embraced the whole social media scene. Follow her on Twitter @clever_nelly to see of her whereabouts and even learn a "Fun Fact" or 2!!

How it works
Nelly is Artificially Intelligent and uses a range of sophisticated, employer specific, multiple-choice questions delivered randomly to the employee via email, an app on a smart phone, tablet or desktop. On average Nelly delivers 3.4 questions per employee per day and this uses on average 1 minute 47 seconds of an employee’s working day. Even the busiest contact centre agent, the most time poor salesperson and the over-active manager can find time to engage with Nelly each day.

Because Nelly is intelligent she varies the quantum and subject matter of the questions that each individual user receives based on that individual’s past responses. This way, every Nelly user is treated with respect, as an individual and not subject to mindless repetitive questions.

Nelly is hugely flexible and can, with minimal effort, be tailored to deliver against your specific requirements, even delivering different outcomes to individual stakeholders in your enterprise. Nelly’s sophisticated, but disarmingly simple workflow, allows our clients to automate mundane, value destroying activities so they can focus on improving the performance of individuals and teams within the business.

We guarantee the results
Last year we asked more than 10 million questions, that’s more than 10 million individual learning interventions! We used this data to prove beyond doubt that employees who used Nelly, were certain to learn, even when the content was deemed to be uninteresting or irrelevant. We now guarantee that Nelly works. We offer our clients a simple no quibble money back guarantee. If your employees use Nelly, then we guarantee that they will learn what you have trained them.

We also know that for an employee to act upon or improve as a result of training, they must first learn and retain what they have been trained. Evidence shows, on average, employees learn and retain less than half of what their employers train them and that what is actually learned differs randomly from employee to employee.

Nelly gently, securely and unobtrusively guarantees that every employee learns what they were trained and closes this costly knowledge gap, providing enormous scope for enterprise performance improvement, whenever employees touch the process.

If you think that your business would perform better if all of your employees knew what you trained them then you need an elephant on your team.

What makes Nelly work?
Nelly is grounded in science and uses a combination of the most successful learning techniques to guarantee users that they will learn what they have been trained. Spaced learning, repetition and self-testing are the proven most successful learning strategies known to man and these are harnessed by Clever Nelly. We have a white paper explaining this in more detail that you can download for free from this website.

This, combined with our experience of asking more than 10 million questions to users last year alone, our expert question authors and our Business Benefit Tracking application, means that our clients get multi-fold, in-year, every year Return on Investment.

Business Benefit Tracker
Nelly is not a discretionary purchase. She is an easily deployed, low-cost, cloud-hosted critical performance improvement tool. Nelly-Elephants Don’t Forget  -  Adrian Harvey (Keri Higgins-Begelow – Living HR)

Adrian – CEO/Founder of company

On call: AB/Sanjay/Dave W.

Created because there is a gulf between what is trained and what is retained. Hard for any ROI on training, and then invented this application – a cloud hosted (no need to integrate with IT side – could plug and play tomorrow if wanted to)

  • Principal country is training in UK, but also US/Canada/Australia/China…(8-9 countries)
  • Nelly can ask questions through several mediums:
  • The notes section can be turned off/on and is a good use for mature clients, when all answers may be correct and explanation for choice would be needed – and can be tracked
  • Can have categories of scores
  • Most interesting is the engagement…how many questions are being answered, and there is always a correlation between the rate at which someone answers questions and their score – those with a high answer rate, have higher scores – the more they practice, the more they know
  • They get 2-5 questions per day, pending their capability – on average getting 3.4 questions per day, and avg for employee is 1 minute 47 seconds – with Nelly per day, so there isn’t an issue of “my people are too busy to use this application”
  • What it would look like:
  • Can also compare how you are doing or how team is doing, relative to others:
  • You can select which topics you want to see:
  • Can then look at individuals too (if you’re the manager)
  • If have 0 engagement, manager gets email weekly advising who isn’t using application – what gets measured, gets done
  • More detailed format is on the performance tab of dashboard
  • They use an average # of team members and then average those scores, so it doesn’t matter if a team is bigger or smaller than the others
  • Can drill down farther and look at questions from the dashboard too:
  • Can even map 1 individual to see how they perform individually, but for high level, can just look at the macro level
  • Can questions include video?
    • Uses an incredible amount of bandwidth – Adrian has yet to see it successfully launched, clients don’t have enough bandwidth
    • Sound doesn’t come out well
    • Many clients use Nelly in conjunction with other solutions
      • They can include a link that will take them to a video file that is housed elsewhere for them to see the content – as an internal consumption system for the bandwidth
    • Verticals: financial services, pharmaceutical, energy market in UK/Ireland, travel industry in US (trip advisor is a client)
      • Clients: HP, Abbott Labs, Colgate, Palmolive
